Dandruff is small fragments of skin called scales that peel off the scalp. This can be caused by stress, poor diet, hormonal imbalance, or an improper hair care routine.
There are 2 types of films:
- Dry dandruff: linked to excess sebum production and a disruption in scalp cell renewal. This dandruff has the appearance of a white powder, does not adhere to the scalp and falls onto the shoulders. Dry dandruff mainly affects dry or normal scalps.
- Oily dandruff: linked to the development of a microorganism called Malassezia furfur, which degrades sebum and promotes flaking. It is characterized by the form of plaques that remain stuck to the scalp. Often associated with itching and irritation of the scalp. Eliminating dandruff then becomes essential for greater comfort.
